Mum’s best gift was
hearing boy say “I love you”
A Perth youngster locked in a world of silence
has told his mum “I love you” for the first time – after he was
cured by “angels”.
Three-year-old Callum MacDonald sparked concern because he was not
talking or even making any sounds.
His worried mum, Claire Copland, thought he might be autistic and
sought help.
She eventually put her son through music therapy, which involves
listening to specially composed tunes.
Within hours of hearing the music, which composer Yaatri believes is
beamed down to him from heaven by angels, Callum spoke his first
words.
He has since come on leaps and bounds and shocked his mum and dad,
David MacDonald, by telling them he loved them.
Hotel worker Claire (35) said, “It’s amazing. Before he couldn’t
talk at all and we were worried about him. We thought he should have
been much further on with his speech than he was. But since we
started the music therapy the change has been unbelievable.”
“The other night he told me he loved me out of the blue. It was the
best gift I’ve ever been given.”
After being a lively outgoing baby, Callum became a silent toddler
who did not seem to like company and hated going to playgroup or
being with other children.
Claire and joiner David became concerned and, comparing his progress
to that of their nephews and nieces, decided he needed help.
The couple were advised to try the New Hope Centre in Perth, which
offers a host of alternative and complementary therapies.
Experts there discovered Callum had extremely sensitive hearing. His
young ears were taking in every noise and amplifying it to the point
where he could not make sense of anything.
So it was easier for him to simply shrink away into his own little
world rather than trying to make sense of the sounds.
But as soon as he listened to the music – which Yaatri says came to
him after he spent three years meditating in the Himalayas – Callum
underwent a dramatic change.
Claire added, “As well as not talking, Callum didn’t understand
anything you said to him. He wandered around with a kind of glazed
look and didn’t react to anything you said.”
“Now he responds to everything. We can’t believe the effect the
therapy has had.”
It is thought the songs calmed down Callum’s hearing and helped him
to make sense of everything that was happening around him.
Being with other children is no longer a problem for him and he now
loves to socialise, as well as talking as much as possible.
Claire revealed, “It’s like I’ve got my little boy back.”
“He talks all the time and can’t wait to play with other children.
He used to hate going into my friend’s houses but now he can’t get
in there quick enough.”
“The difference in him is amazing.”
Yaatri, who promotes his music through the website
www.BrainHeartMusic.com,
is delighted he has been able to help Callum.
He said, “It’s a deeply humbling experience.”
“I know where the music came from and I’m happy it’s being used to
help Callum.” “For it to create the peace of mind to allow him to
speak for the first time is extraordinary.”
